MicroPool 2007 features realistic ball physics, very nice raytraced graphics, and an easy-to-use interface. There's nothing flashy or gimmicky here, just pure 100% pool.
There are conventional 8-ball and 9-ball modes, and also a killer mode (where you have 3 or 5 lives and lose one every time you fail to pot a ball) and a speed mode (where you have to pot all the balls as quickly as possible). You can adjust the length of a game by using the larger or smaller ball sets.
You can play against a human opponent (by passing the phone back and forth), or you can play against the phone, or you can even make the phone play against itself as a demo. If you're playing against the phone, you can adjust the phone's skill level.
I don't know, honestly I do not like the feel of the game at all. I mean who plays pool looking straight down from an overhead view?
I think Virtual Pool Mobile, which also available for the Symbian S60 is a better buy. It gives you a more realistic view of the game and allows you more game options other than 8 ball and 9 ball, (six total). Plus you have a total of 120 different opponents to play against in career mode or practice. And the physics are right on the money as well.
I enjoy career mode the most. Moving up through the different rooms is a lot of fun. Though beating the head cheese isn't something that I have been able to do, even on easy mode, it sure is a lot of fun trying to get there.
The game runs great on a ppc with a stylus and all. I am not sure how good the experience is on a mobile phone. It may be a bit complex for the S60, but I don't own one, so I cannot comment there. But since they made it availabe for an S60, I guess it runs just as good.
Whatever though, if you like simple pool go for Micropool, but if you want to play with the big dawgs head over to the VPM.
